QBE AcceliCITY Resilience Challenge

The QBE AcceliCITY Resilience Challenge is a global virtual startup accelerator designed to identify and implement transformative solutions for urban resilience. Hosted by Leading Cities in collaboration with the QBE Foundation, the program empowers startups to address pressing city-level challenges linked to climate change, infrastructure resilience, and urban sustainability. With a focus on bridging the gap between innovative entrepreneurs and city stakeholders, this challenge connects high-impact startups with the funding, expertise, and municipal partnerships required to deploy real-world solutions. The accelerator aims to support startups that strengthen communities, infrastructure, or the environment through innovative and scalable technologies. Participants gain access to mentorship, networking with global city leaders, pilot opportunities, and certifications designed to increase their readiness for public-private partnerships. A notable feature of the program is its comprehensive six-month virtual curriculum, which provides in-depth training on financing smart city projects, accessing new markets, investor readiness, public procurement strategies, and more. The funding scope includes a $100,000 Grand Prize for the most impactful urban resilience solution, along with three additional $25,000 prizes: two People’s Choice Awards and a PropTech Prize focused on property damage mitigation and sustainability. All applicants are considered for the $100,000 prize and may apply for multiple awards to increase their impact potential. Finalists also have access to a city pilot and customized mentorship from QBE Ventures and other QBE departments. Eligibility is open to global startups focused on resilience, infrastructure, and sustainability, regardless of industry. There are no geographical restrictions for applicants, as the program accommodates different time zones through two regional divisions. Selected startups will join the LaunchPad 11 virtual incubator and follow a certified curriculum culminating in a pitch competition evaluated by global leaders from organizations such as the United Nations and the Clinton Global Initiative. To apply, startups must submit their application by April 30th. The top 100 applicants will be selected between May and June and will participate in the LaunchPad 11 virtual incubator. This will be followed by SmartUp Week in September, selection of the Top 10 finalists, a Virtual Boot Camp in October, and the final pitch event in November. Participants will receive access to PPP certifications, extensive mentoring, and networking opportunities throughout the program. Applicants are evaluated on the strength of their business plans, financial models, proposed city pilot projects, and pitch performance. Emphasis is placed on readiness for implementation, scalability, and potential for city-level impact. Additional support continues beyond the program, reinforcing the challenge’s mission of fostering scalable, sustainable solutions for global urban challenges.
