Health Foundation of Greater Massillon Grants

The Health Foundation of Greater Massillon (HFGM) was established in 1999 when Massillon Community Hospital and Akron General Medical Center formed a joint venture. The foundation was created to ensure that resources were available for health and wellness programs in Western Stark, Northern Tuscarawas, and Eastern Wayne counties. Since its inception, the HFGM has awarded over $3 million to local organizations aimed at improving the health and wellness of individuals and families in the community. The foundation became part of the Stark Community Foundation's family of donors in 2016, transitioning to a supporting foundation. The mission of HFGM is to improve health status, promote wellness activities, and enhance community well-being by supporting nonprofit organizations that provide services in these areas. The foundation's vision is to inspire a healthier community. Its efforts are concentrated in specific regions, including Western Stark County, Northern Tuscarawas County, and Eastern Wayne County, with the goal of improving both physical and mental health among the residents. Eligible applicants for HFGM grants must be tax-exempt private agencies or 501(c)(3) organizations recognized as public charities, as well as government entities. Proposals must be aimed at benefiting the residents of the aforementioned geographic regions, specifically addressing physical, emotional, and mental health. The proposals must demonstrate a well-thought-out plan that includes programs or activities geared towards improving health and wellness. However, funding is not generally provided for administrative costs, annual appeals, membership drives, religious purposes, fundraising efforts, individual travel, or lobbying activities. Applications are accepted in two cycles each year. The Spring cycle has an application deadline of February 28, 2025, with awards made by May 2025. The Fall cycle has a deadline of August 29, 2025, with awards made by October 2025. Grant applicants will receive notification of the Board’s decision via mail. All applications must be submitted online through the Stark Community Foundation's Grant Portal. Organizations that receive grant funding are required to submit an evaluative report at the end of the grant period. This report must include a narrative on the impact of the grant as well as a financial breakdown of how the grant funds were used. Failure to submit the report may hinder future funding opportunities from the Stark Community Foundation. For any questions, potential applicants can contact Dana S.
