Grant Description

The Grays Harbor Community Foundation (GHCF), located in Hoquiam, Washington, operates the Quarterly Impact Grants Program to support organizations across Grays Harbor County with smaller-scale, immediate-need funding opportunities. Formerly known as the Small Grants Program, this initiative is designed to be nimble and responsive, providing grants of $5,000 or less to local organizations aligned with GHCF’s giving priorities. The Foundation is committed to facilitating projects that can be implemented quickly and generate meaningful, timely impacts within the community. The program welcomes applications from organizations that address GHCF's identified areas of community need. Examples of eligible projects include purchasing educational materials for schools, acquiring food supplies for feeding programs, procuring essential items for housing shelters, supporting small renovation or improvement efforts, and investing in capacity-building efforts such as technology upgrades or operational enhancements. Projects submitted must be distinct from those funded under GHCF’s Community Building Grant, as each grant must support a different initiative. Applicants are required to operate within Grays Harbor County. Preference is given to organizations that plan to utilize the funds immediately or within two months of receipt. Organizations and school districts may apply once per year for a Quarterly Impact Grant. Any grant request exceeding $5,000 must be submitted under GHCF’s Community Building Grant instead. Additionally, the funds may not be used for fundraisers, endowment contributions, scholarships, or re-granting programs. Religious organizations are eligible to apply only if the proposed project clearly benefits the broader community. Capital projects funded through this program require extra diligence. Applicants must include bids with their application and agree to a site visit. They are also required to submit photos of the proposed project area. It is important to note that GHCF limits recipients to one Impact Grant award every twelve months. Preference is also given to organizations that have not recently received foundation funding. Projects that are one-time activities—excluding school field trips—and those focused on feasibility studies, deficit funding, or strategic planning are typically ineligible. Applications for the Quarterly Impact Grants are reviewed on a quarterly basis, with submission deadlines falling on March 1st, June 1st, September 1st, and December 1st each year. These regular cycles ensure consistent and timely opportunities for funding throughout the year. While the grant is not available on a rolling basis, its recurring nature allows organizations to plan strategically for future submission rounds. Final reports are a mandatory component of the funding process; organizations that fail to submit a final report will not be considered for future GHCF grants. GHCF maintains open lines of communication for prospective applicants. The Foundation’s office is located at 705 J Street, PO Box 615, Hoquiam, WA 98550. Applicants may contact the foundation by phone at 360-532-1600 or by email at info@gh-cf.org for inquiries or clarification about the grant program. GHCF encourages organizations to reach out to a Program Officer if they are uncertain whether their project aligns with program parameters.
