Grant Description

The Bonfils-Stanton Foundation offers Community Grants to provide unrestricted operating support for ongoing stability in carrying out an organization’s mission. The program also considers project support as a means to build relationships with organizations. New applicants to the quarterly community grants program may have previously received funding from other Bonfils-Stanton initiatives that supported earlier stages of their development. General operating and project support is currently capped at $60,000 per award. The foundation prioritizes fostering a diverse and vibrant arts and culture ecosystem in Denver, investing in organizations that advance equity, amplifying the visibility of the arts, and nurturing capable and diverse leadership within the nonprofit sector. The Community Grants program operates on a quarterly schedule with four application rounds annually. For Round 2 of the 2025–2026 cycle, applications open on October 10, 2025, and close on November 10, 2025. Award decisions for this round will be made in January 2026. Applicants may only apply for one grant within a 12-month period. The grant is recurring, with future rounds planned according to the established quarterly schedule. Eligibility is limited to 501(c)(3) nonprofit arts and culture organizations or fiscally sponsored arts and culture groups whose mission focuses on producing and presenting the arts for the public. Organizations must be based in Denver and deliver the majority of their programming within the city. They must have at least three years of consistent public arts and culture programming, an annual operating budget of at least $50,000, and paid staff equivalent to at least 0.5 FTE. Applicants must also demonstrate a strong understanding of and a clear plan for implementing diversity, equity, and inclusion practices. While the geographic focus is Denver, small-budget, community-driven organizations in adjacent Arapahoe, Adams, and Jefferson counties may be considered on a case-by-case basis. Certain activities and entities are ineligible for funding. The foundation generally does not support loans, grants, or scholarships to individuals, events and media/film productions, religious activities, endowment funding, operating debt retirement, or requests from organizations outside Colorado or not benefiting Colorado residents. Applicants planning to use a fiscal sponsor must review the foundation’s fiscal sponsor guidelines and provide an agreement. The application process begins with a Grant Interest Form for new applicants. Returning applicants who have received a grant in the past three years are not required to complete this form, although the foundation welcomes discussion prior to submission. Applications are submitted online through the foundation’s portal. A final grant report is required for funded organizations. A panel reviews all applications and makes funding decisions. For more information, applicants can contact the Bonfils-Stanton Foundation at admin@bonfils-stanton.org or call +1 303-825-3774. The foundation’s offices are located at 1033 Santa Fe Dr, Denver, CO 80204, United States. The program’s structure and clear timeline allow organizations to plan effectively for each quarterly cycle while aligning their work with the foundation’s strategic goals for arts and culture in Denver.
