Grant Description

The Corridors Enhancement Match Grant Program is a local initiative administered by the City of Lexington through the Corridors Commission. It is designed to support neighborhood and community-based groups seeking to improve the appearance and condition of Lexington’s primary roadways and adjacent areas. The goal of the program is to enhance the visual appeal and functionality of designated corridors, encourage civic pride, and increase community participation in local beautification efforts. The grant program is open to applicants proposing projects located on or directly adjacent to one of 32 eligible corridors across Lexington. These corridors are some of the city’s most heavily traveled roadways, and proposals must target public property or community-owned common areas that provide a clear public benefit. Project types may include physical improvements, beautification efforts, tree replacement, litter cleanup, and awareness campaigns. Grants may be used for a wide range of community-oriented improvements. Eligible activities include installing or maintaining landscaping, removing and replacing dead or diseased trees, conducting voluntary clean-ups, promoting litter awareness, repairing or improving public-facing features, and planning or financing neighborhood beautification projects. Projects must be geographically tied to the eligible corridor locations. The program opened for applications on September 2, 2025, and will accept submissions through October 10, 2025. Awards are administered directly by the Corridors Commission, which reviews applications for relevance, impact, location eligibility, and alignment with community improvement goals. The review process is expected to conclude shortly after the application deadline, with award notifications issued thereafter. A matching requirement applies only to projects requesting over $3,500 in funding. For amounts up to $3,500, no match is required. However, if the request exceeds $3,500, the applicant must provide a dollar-for-dollar match for the portion exceeding that threshold. Match contributions may include cash, in-kind services, or donated materials. The program is designed to reduce financial barriers to local participation and empower residents to take active roles in improving the public spaces they use daily.
