Grant Description

The Rocky Hill Greater Together Community Fund, part of The Hartford Foundation for Public Giving, has opened its second competitive grant opportunity for nonprofits that aim to positively impact the residents of Rocky Hill, Connecticut. The Hartford Foundation, established to foster greater equity and community well-being across central Connecticut, created dedicated community funds in 2019 for each of the 29 towns it serves, with Rocky Hill receiving $100,000. This initiative was developed to empower residents to identify local needs and collaborate on inclusive civic projects that reflect community values. This grant opportunity is designed to support initiatives that benefit the residents of Rocky Hill, particularly those that promote equitable access and avoid discrimination based on race, religion, or any other protected class. While projects do not need to serve all residents equally, applicants must clearly demonstrate how their proposal addresses the needs of a segment of the town’s population in a fair and inclusive way. Applications are open to all eligible 501(c)(3) nonprofit organizations, regardless of where they are based, as long as they serve the Rocky Hill community. Local groups of residents may also submit a proposal in partnership with a registered nonprofit or the Town of Rocky Hill, which can act as a fiscal agent. To be considered, each applicant must complete the application available on the Hartford Foundation's website by the submission deadline of July 31, 2025. The proposal must include a rationale for the project’s necessity, the intended beneficiaries and duration of impact, the applicant’s qualifications or experience related to the project, and a clear implementation plan with an estimated budget and timeline. A budget template will be provided with the application. Applications will be evaluated based on several criteria: the number of town residents impacted, the sustainability and longevity of the project's benefits, the likelihood of successful execution, and the overall value of the proposed project in relation to its cost. Grants awarded will range from a minimum of $250 to a maximum of $10,000. Funding requests outside this range will not be considered. Only one application per organization will be accepted during this grant cycle. Additional support for groups looking for a fiscal sponsor can be obtained by emailing the Rocky Hill Community Fund Advisory Committee. General inquiries regarding the grant can also be directed to rockyhill@hfpgcommunityfunds.org. This funding round was officially opened on June 2, 2025, with an expected grant start date in November 2025, providing a clear window for planning and execution for those selected. This initiative presents a meaningful opportunity for organizations and local groups to engage in collaborative, impactful work that supports the broader Rocky Hill community through thoughtful, sustainable projects. It reflects an ongoing commitment by the Hartford Foundation and the Rocky Hill Advisory Committee to foster inclusive community development and empowerment.
