Grant Description

The Carling Memorial Foundation Fund, managed by the Community Foundation of Central Georgia (CFCG), supports initiatives that promote the health and well-being of children in Bibb County, Georgia. Established as a component fund within CFCG, this foundation aligns its philanthropic activities with a targeted geographic and demographic focus. The fund’s overarching goal is to enhance quality of life for young residents in the Bibb County area by supporting local organizations working in youth-focused health and wellness initiatives. The fund specifically invites applications from organizations proposing projects that are implemented within Bibb County. Projects outside this geographic area are not eligible. To be considered, applicants must clearly demonstrate how their proposed initiative will directly benefit children in Bibb County. The average award amount for this opportunity is $1,000, and grants are typically awarded once per year. Organizations are permitted to submit only one application per year, and those that have previously received funding must have submitted their final project report to be eligible for a new award. The application process is designed to be straightforward but requires timely preparation. Applicants must first register through CFCG’s web portal, which requires a User ID and password. Registration can take at least one business day to process, so applicants are strongly encouraged not to wait until the deadline week to register. Once registration is approved, applicants must upload two PDF documents: a one-page project description and a one-page project budget. These documents together form the complete application. Grant decisions are communicated within two months of the application deadline, which falls at 12:00 PM on November 15th. All applicants will be notified in writing of the decision, regardless of the outcome. Should a project receive funding, the grant recipient must submit a final report that outlines the outcomes of the project and provides an accounting of how the funds were used. These reports must be submitted through the online portal and are due within 60 days of the depletion of funds or no later than one year from the original grant deadline—whichever comes first. Beginning January 1, 2024, all reporting for competitive grant programs at CFCG must be submitted through the online grants portal. Paper or mailed reports are no longer accepted. When a report is ready, recipients will receive automated instructions from the portal. To remain eligible for future grant cycles, organizations must have completed reports for all previously funded projects on file. For outreach and publicity, recipients are encouraged to acknowledge the grant as funding from the Carling Memorial Foundation Fund, a component fund of the Community Foundation of Central Georgia. This includes appropriate terminology in press releases, tagging the foundation on social media, and including the CFCG logo on promotional materials. Materials should be shared with CFCG and included in the final report. For questions, applicants can contact the foundation at info@cfcga.org or by phone at 478-750-9338 or toll-free at 866-750-9338. The foundation is located at 577 Mulberry Street, Suite 1600, Macon, GA 31201.
