UWSCI Impact Grants
This funding opportunity provides financial support to nonprofit organizations in southern Indiana that assist working families and individuals facing economic challenges in accessing essential services like housing, food, and healthcare.
The United Way of South Central Indiana (UWSCI) is accepting applications for its 2026 Impact Grants, which provide up to $25,000 in funding for nonprofit organizations serving ALICE households—families and individuals who are Asset Limited, Income Constrained, and Employed. These households earn above the federal poverty level but struggle to afford basic necessities such as housing, food, and healthcare. The grant program reflects UWSCI’s long-term commitment to building economic mobility, stability, and opportunity for these populations in southern Indiana. Funding is available for programs that align with UWSCI’s three strategic focus areas: Financial Security, Healthy Community, and Youth Opportunity. Financial Security programs may include financial literacy, workforce-linked services, and debt reduction. Healthy Community initiatives include food security, health access, and behavioral health. Youth Opportunity supports range from early childhood education and youth mentorship to school readiness and career preparation. Eligible applicants must be 501(c)(3) organizations or fiscally sponsored, operating in at least one of six counties: Brown, Greene, Lawrence, Monroe, Orange, or Owen. Programs must explicitly serve the ALICE population and align with at least one of the core focus areas. Applicants must also commit to or already have a non-discrimination policy. Organizations that are ineligible include hospitals, government entities, animal welfare groups, and organizations headquartered outside of the six-county region (unless funds are used locally). The grant period is one year, with funds distributed in twelve monthly installments. All funded agencies are required to submit an Annual Impact Report by the last week of January following the end of the grant cycle. Reports must include demographic and outcome data, success stories with photos, and a compliance certification signed by a board chair. Applications are due by October 17, 2025, and must be submitted through UWSCI’s online Grant Application Portal. Applicants are encouraged to attend an informational presentation on September 19, 2025, from 12:00–1:30 PM at the UWSCI office in Bloomington. Additional support is available via virtual office hours, which can be scheduled online. For questions, applicants may contact Carmen Chamorro at carmen@unitedwaysci.org or 812-334-8370 ext 11.
