The Community Foundation Alliance offers the Community Good Grants Program, an annual grant opportunity designed to support diverse needs within Pike County, Indiana. The Community Foundation Alliance is an organization dedicated to enhancing the quality of life in its service regions through philanthropic initiatives, leveraging Community Good Unrestricted Funds and Field of Interest Funds to meet a variety of community needs. The purpose of the Community Good Grants Program is to provide one-time support for projects that benefit the local community, though applications for additional support or project expansions may be considered. The program seeks to fund projects within several key areas, including arts and culture, community development, education, health, human services, and other civic endeavors such as environment, recreation, and youth development. The program expressly excludes funding for religious organizations for religious purposes, political campaigns, endowment creation or debt reduction, unrelated operating costs, capital campaigns, annual appeals, membership contributions, and travel for groups or individuals. Eligibility for this grant is extended to nonprofit organizations classified as tax-exempt under sections 501(c)(3) and 509(a) of the Internal Revenue Code, as well as governmental agencies serving Pike County. Nonprofit organizations not classified under 501(c)(3) may be considered if the project is charitable and addresses a community need; such applicants may be required to work with a fiscal sponsor. Organizations applying under a fiscal sponsor must provide a written agreement from the sponsor’s board president, confirming their role in receiving and overseeing the grant funds. Applications are accepted annually from June 10 through July 22, with the current cycle closing on July 22, 2025. All applications must be submitted electronically within this window; late submissions are not considered. New applicants are encouraged to schedule an orientation meeting with the Regional Director of Community Engagement and Impact to gain insights into the program and application process. A final report may be required at the conclusion of funded projects, with reporting instructions provided upon grant award. The evaluation process involves a grants committee that reviews applications and recommends funding decisions to the Community Foundation Alliance’s board of directors. Applicants are notified in writing of the funding outcomes no later than October 31. Applications must include several supporting documents: a current board roster with professional affiliations, the organization’s current annual operating budget, the most recent financial statements, and a fiscal sponsor agreement letter if applicable. For further information or to schedule an orientation meeting, prospective applicants may contact the Community Foundation Alliance by mail at PO Box 587, Petersburg, IN 47567, by phone at (812) 254-9355 or (812) 766-0550 (Cindy Gaskins).
