Impact Grants Chicago Funds 2024-2025
This grant provides $100,000 to Chicago-based nonprofit organizations for impactful projects that address critical social issues, including culture, education, family support, health, and sustainability.
Impact Grants Chicago is a philanthropic initiative that aims to support local nonprofit organizations in Chicago that are addressing critical social issues and community needs. Each year, the organization awards grants of $100,000 to selected nonprofits, enabling them to implement high-impact projects and programs. The grants can be used for new initiatives, as well as for the expansion or continuation of existing successful programs. The number of grants awarded is determined annually in February based on the membership numbers of Impact Grants Chicago, with each member contributing a $1,000 donation that is pooled to fund the grants. The primary purpose of the Impact Grants Chicago program is to enhance the quality of life in Chicago through targeted funding in specific focus areas. These areas include culture, education, family, health, and sustainability. Projects that fall under these categories are expected to address identifiable needs within the community and demonstrate a significant impact on both the organization and the population it serves. The funding can cover various expenses, including capital improvements and program-related costs, and must be utilized within a two-year period. To be eligible for an Impact Grant, organizations must meet several criteria. They must be classified as a public charity with tax-exempt status under Section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code for at least 36 months prior to applying. Additionally, the organization must be based in Chicago, provide the majority of its services within the city, and report total revenues between $1,000,000 and $8,000,000 in their most recent IRS Form 990. Organizations must also be independently audited, and previous recipients of the $100,000 grant are ineligible to apply for three years following their award. The application process requires organizations to submit detailed information about their proposed projects, including how they align with the focus areas and the anticipated impact on the community. Evaluation criteria for the applications include the clarity of the project goals, the feasibility of the proposed activities, and the potential for measurable outcomes. The board of directors will review all submissions and make final decisions based on these criteria. The deadline for submitting applications for the Impact Grants Chicago program is October 25, 2024. Organizations interested in applying should ensure that they meet all eligibility requirements and prepare their applications well in advance of the deadline. For further information, potential applicants can visit the Impact Grants Chicago website or contact the organization directly via email. In summary, Impact Grants Chicago provides a significant opportunity for local nonprofits to secure funding for impactful projects that benefit the Chicago community. By focusing on specific areas of need and requiring a clear demonstration of potential outcomes, the program aims to foster positive change and support the vital work of nonprofit organizations in the city.
