Grant Description

The Regional Development Corporation (RDC) is a local economic development organization focused on supporting businesses in Northern New Mexico. Through its Micro-Grant Fund, the RDC offers financial assistance to help small and for-profit businesses grow, diversify revenue, and create jobs in the region. The grant aims to support businesses by providing up to $3,000 in reimbursable funding for critical purchases and services that advance business operations and job creation. Eligible applicants must be for-profit entities headquartered in one of the following New Mexico counties: Los Alamos, Mora, Rio Arriba, San Miguel, Northern Sandoval, Santa Fe, or Taos. To qualify, businesses must have been operational for at least one year, possess a business license, CRS number, and maintain a business-only bank account. The RDC gives preference to rural businesses and those that have not received this funding previously. Funds can be used for business equipment, consulting services, and one-time software purchases. However, operating expenses such as rent, utilities, inventory, insurance, or salaries are ineligible. Importantly, purchases must be approved in advance and completed within three months of the award agreement. Reimbursements will only be processed upon submission of paid invoices. The 2025 application period runs from June 2 to June 30. An online information session in English will be held on June 12 from 11:00 am to noon, and another in Spanish on June 11. Applicants are encouraged to attend the sessions for guidance. Applications are submitted online and cannot be saved mid-progress, so it is important to prepare answers in advance using the provided sample application. Submissions are reviewed competitively by a panel of local and regional business experts. Proposals are evaluated based on their potential to generate jobs, grow revenue, and leverage additional investments. Only complete and eligible proposals are considered. Applicants must be prepared to front the cost of purchases and seek reimbursement afterward. For more information or assistance, applicants may contact Louise Majorey at info@rdcnm.org. The Micro-Grant Fund continues to be a valuable tool for fostering economic development in Northern New Mexico, with expected annual cycles providing ongoing support.
