Music Educational and Community Programs
This funding opportunity provides financial support to Texas-based nonprofit organizations for music-related educational and community programs that are accessible to all ages.
The Music Educational and Community Programs grant is offered by the Texas Music Office (TMO), a division of the Office of the Governor’s Texas Economic Development and Tourism Office. The TMO supports the development of the music industry throughout Texas, serving over 15,000 individuals annually by acting as an information clearinghouse. This grant opportunity furthers that mission by providing financial assistance to nonprofit organizations based in Texas that sponsor music-related educational and community programs. This grant is specifically for the 2026 fiscal year and is supported through revenues generated by the sale of Texas Music specialty license plates and donations, as authorized by the Texas Education Code, Section 7.027. Eligible applicants may submit one application per state fiscal year and must be 501(c)(3) organizations based and in good standing in Texas. Additionally, applicants must not owe delinquent taxes to Texas taxing units. Projects funded by this grant must align with specific purposes. Funds may support music performances or presentations that are free and open to all ages, with at least one Texas-based musical act included. Music lessons must be provided by Texas-based professional musicians or instructors, and instruments must be purchased from Texas retailers. Grant awards range from $1,500 to $3,000 and are paid on a cost-reimbursement basis. Disbursements require verification through receipts and proof of delivery or occurrence of the funded event or service. The application process occurs through the Texas eGrants system, where applicants must create or log into an account using their Federal EIN. Organizations must submit their complete application, including all required supporting documents and organizational information such as at least three designated grant officials. Applications must be submitted by 5:00 PM CST on December 15, 2025. Projects may begin as early as January 1, 2026, and must be completed by August 31, 2026. Evaluation of applications considers eligibility and completeness, as well as the program’s alignment with the grant’s objectives. Preference will be given to cost-effective proposals with educational or historic components, those occurring in counties with populations under 100,000, and applicants who did not receive a grant in the prior fiscal year. All grant decisions are at the discretion of the Office of the Governor and are final. For further assistance or information, applicants may contact the Texas Music Office at music@gov.texas.gov or by phone at (512) 463-6666. The eGrants help desk is also available at eGrants@gov.texas.gov for technical support with the submission platform.
