Grant Description

The Storefront Renovation Grant is offered by the City of South Euclid in partnership with One South Euclid, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization dedicated to strengthening commercial vitality within the community. This program is designed to support transformational exterior renovations to commercial properties located within the City of South Euclid, Ohio. By investing in facade improvements that are visible from the street, the program seeks to enhance curb appeal, stimulate economic development, and reinforce the visual character of commercial corridors throughout the city. The purpose of the grant is to provide financial assistance to eligible commercial property owners undertaking significant exterior improvements. The program provides matching grants of up to 50000 dollars for qualifying projects. All funded improvements must be exterior in nature, visible from the public right of way, and demonstrably improve the overall appearance and attractiveness of the property. The emphasis on visibility and curb appeal reflects the program’s goal of driving increased foot traffic, supporting local businesses, and fostering long term neighborhood investment. Eligibility is limited to property owners. Unlike the separate business signage program administered by the same partners, this storefront renovation initiative is not directed toward tenants unless they are also the property owner. All improvements must meet applicable City requirements, and projects must secure all necessary municipal approvals before any work begins. This includes compliance with local development review processes and any other required city authorizations. Property owners selected for funding will enter into a formal grant agreement with One South Euclid outlining the responsibilities and disbursement conditions. The application process for the 2026 cycle opens on January 12, 2026 and closes on April 1, 2026 at 5:00 p.m. Eastern Time. Applicants are encouraged to provide detailed project information to strengthen their submission. Applications are reviewed by the One South Euclid Grant Committee. Applicants recommended for funding will be notified within 30 days after submission of the application. Following project completion, recipients must submit a report, receipts, and images within 30 days after the project date to document compliance and verify expenses. This is a true matching grant program. Property owners must invest at least an amount equal to the funding requested, up to 50000 dollars. For example, in a 100000 dollar project, the property owner must contribute 50000 dollars and the City and One South Euclid would fund the remaining 50000 dollars. The Grant Committee reserves the right to award more than 50000 dollars for a large transformational project. Grant funds are paid directly to the contractor upon satisfactory completion of the project, completion of required inspections, and sign off from the Building Department. Property owners must begin the City approval process within four months of signing the grant agreement, and all projects must be fully completed by August 1, 2027. For assistance, applicants may contact the City’s Planning and Development Director, Michael Love, at 216-691-4205 or [email protected].
