The California Department of Public Health (CDPH) is seeking applications for Solicitation CG 24-10417, a funding opportunity within the California Tobacco Prevention Program (CTPP). This opportunity will award one organization up to $2,000,000 over a five-year term (July 1, 2025, to June 30, 2030) to serve as a Statewide Technical Assistance Provider. The selected provider will support statewide and local tobacco prevention initiatives, focusing on communications, messaging, and technical assistance to improve public awareness and delivery of local tobacco prevention programs, particularly for high-risk populations.
The Statewide Provider’s responsibilities include implementing a Scope of Work (SOW) with activities such as direct education, technical assistance, and training to enhance the capacity of local programs. The selected contractor will work with local health departments, community-based organizations, policymakers, schools, and others to support tobacco use prevention and reduce secondhand smoke exposure among priority populations. This work supports ongoing campaigns like the End Commercial Tobacco Campaign and aligns with local policy goals aimed at eliminating California’s tobacco epidemic.
Eligible agencies are encouraged to apply if their expertise aligns with this project’s communications and technical assistance requirements. Funding is contingent on Proposition 56 (California Healthcare, Research, and Prevention Tobacco Tax Act of 2016) and Proposition 99 (California Tobacco Tax and Health Protection Act of 1988), and will depend on revenue availability and continued legislative appropriations.
Applications are due by November 14, 2024, at 5:00 PM PT. Interested applicants can access the Solicitation, updates, and an informational webinar on the Tobacco Control Funding Opportunities and Resources (TCFOR) website.
