The Russell County Economic Development & Convention and Visitors Bureau (CVB) offers the Storefront/Signage Grant Program to support visual and structural improvements for businesses located in Russell County. This initiative aims to enhance the promotion and physical appeal of local storefronts through co-funded grants. The program provides financial assistance for eligible projects such as new or updated signage, faรงade improvements, hardscaping, roofing, painting, windows, siding, and parking lot enhancements, all of which must comply with local ordinances and codes.
The 2026 cycle accepts one application per business. If awarded, recipients must wait two years before reapplying. Total annual funding available is $15,000, and awards are made until funds are exhausted. Grants are awarded in four tiers based on project investment: $2,000 for investments of $4,000 and above; $1,500 for $3,000 to $3,999.99; $1,000 for $2,000 to $2,999.99; and $500 for $1,000 to $1,999.99. All grants require a 50% match from the applicant, and funding is provided only after project completion and submission of a final report with receipts or invoices.
To be eligible, applicants must operate an existing storefront business in Russell County and be current on property taxes. If the business owner does not occupy the building, a business plan for its use post-renovation is required. Projects must be completed within one year of the award. The review process is confidential and conducted by external economic and community development professionals unaffiliated with Russell County.
Applications for the 2026 program are due by January 2, 2026, at close of business. Awards are determined using a scored review process. Inquiries and support are available through the Economic Development office. The grant helps supplement, but not fully fund, improvement projects and serves as a strategic investment to stimulate local business visibility and economic activity.
Ensure compliance with local ordinances; only complete applications with valid receipts will be funded; match requirement strictly enforced
