2026-2027 Arts Project Grant
This funding opportunity supports nonprofit arts organizations in Los Angeles County to create and present public arts projects that benefit the West Hollywood community over two consecutive years.
The Arts Project Grant is a funding opportunity administered by the City of West Hollywood through its Arts Division and Arts and Cultural Affairs Commission. This grant is designed to support nonprofit arts organizations in producing, performing, or presenting arts projects that directly serve the West Hollywood community. Applicants may seek two consecutive years of funding—one project for each calendar year of 2026 and 2027—through a single application. While the two projects do not need to be thematically or structurally related, funding for the second year is contingent upon the successful completion and reporting of the first year’s project. With a total budget of $79,800 available for 2026, the grant provides up to $10,000 per organization each calendar year. Eligible organizations must be 501(c)(3) nonprofits based in Los Angeles County, and their primary mission must involve the production or presentation of one or more artistic disciplines. Applicants must demonstrate artistic experience, cultural understanding of West Hollywood, and must plan to hold the funded presentation within or immediately adjacent to the city. Organizations must also submit a California Data Arts Report for 2022 and 2023 and meet several compliance conditions including insurance and reporting obligations. Projects must be public-facing and limited to one presentation per year. Ineligible projects include fundraisers, capital campaigns, murals, and religious-based events. Additional restrictions apply to organizations receiving other city funds or co-sponsorships. Organizations with annual budgets over $1 million must submit a cultural equity statement and will be considered in a separate competitive pool with a single annual grant earmarked for this group. The grant application process includes a peer panel review, with evaluation criteria focusing on organizational excellence, project contribution to diversity of artistic offerings, financial competence, and clarity in project planning. Scoring includes bonus points for organizations located in West Hollywood. Applications must be submitted online by 3:00 p.m. on Tuesday, July 1, 2025. A required orientation will be held for grantees on November 13, 2025, and funding may begin as early as January 2026 pending compliance with requirements such as insurance documentation. Workshops will be held virtually to support applicants, including an overview session on May 21, 2025, and a budget-specific session on May 28, 2025. Recordings of these workshops will be made available, and applicants may submit questions in advance by May 20, 2025. Throughout the funding period, grantees are expected to adhere to stipulations including reporting, publicity coordination, and, if using city facilities, limitations on in-kind services and technical support costs.
