Grant Description

The Women in Ag Award is an international recognition initiative jointly organized by the DLG (Deutsche Landwirtschafts-Gesellschaft) and "Women in Ag magazine" to highlight and honor the transformative role of women in agriculture. With a focus on showcasing the stories and achievements of women in various agricultural domains, the award celebrates their contributions to shaping the future of the sector. The program underscores the increasing influence of women in agricultural innovation, education, agribusiness, and research across the globe. Now in its fourth year, the competition is open to women from any country who are actively engaged in agriculture, agribusiness, research and development, animal farming, teaching, journalism, consulting, or online influencing. The primary objective is to provide visibility to their contributions, support a global network of female agricultural professionals, and inspire others by recognizing innovative practices and leadership. More than 40 countries have been represented in past years, reflecting the award’s global reach and the diversity of the sector. The Women in Ag Award is presented in four categories: Farming, Agribusiness, Education, and Technology and Research. In the Farming category, women who utilize sustainable methods, implement innovative farm management systems, or contribute forward-looking ideas are honored. The Agribusiness category acknowledges women improving agricultural value chains through entrepreneurship or technological innovation. The Education category is intended for those advancing agricultural knowledge through communication or instruction, while the Technology and Research category recognizes contributions to agricultural sustainability through scientific or technological advancements. Applicants may only submit their application to one category. All applications must be submitted by the candidate herself and must be complete to be considered. Required materials include an online form, a portrait photo, at least two high-resolution images of agricultural activities, and a short video (maximum two minutes) describing the applicant’s role and contributions. The application and video content must be in English, although subtitles are acceptable for videos recorded in other languages. Submission of these materials also grants DLG and Women in Ag magazine the right to use them in promotional and media coverage. Applications for the 2025 award are open and must be submitted no later than July 31, 2025. Only complete applications received by this deadline will be considered. Upon submission, participants will receive an email confirming registration. The award is presented during the AGRITECHNICA or EuroTier events, offering winners an international platform for visibility and professional networking with global agricultural experts. Questions about the award may be directed to womeninag@dlg.org. The 2025 jury includes a panel of nine international experts, including Yuliya Bondarenko, Mathilde Brion, Judith de Vor, May Kanokwan Chodchoey, Belinda Lay, Kim Schoukens, LaKisha Odom, Dr. Jane Tapel, and Sheila Zulu. The award is non-monetary and instead focuses on recognition, media exposure, and participation in a high-profile professional network.
