Liberated Capital - Youth Mental Health Fund - Anchor Grants
This funding opportunity provides financial support to established nonprofit organizations focused on improving mental health services for youth, particularly those from LGBTQ+ and BIPOC communities, across the United States.
The Decolonizing Wealth Project (DWP), founded in 2018, is dedicated to promoting truth, healing, and reparative action through its Reparative Philanthropy framework. This approach transforms financial capital into tools for collective wellbeing by focusing on sector transformation, narrative change, and reparative giving. Through its donor community and fund, Liberated Capital, DWP has allocated more than $23 million to community-led efforts centered on economic solidarity, wellbeing, and climate justice. The organization has been instrumental in influencing the philanthropic sector and has enabled the distribution of close to $1 billion to support reparative initiatives. In 2025, DWP is launching the Youth Mental Health Fund (YMHF), a new culturally responsive care initiative aimed at expanding mental health services for youth aged 12-24 across the United States. The fund will prioritize LGBTQ+ and BIPOC youth who are disproportionately affected by mental health challenges. The fund will redistribute a minimum of $15 million over three years, allocating approximately $5 million annually. Through this initiative, DWP aims to provide grants that support community-based programs, cultural healing practices, and systemic advocacy efforts. The Anchor Grants program, part of the YMHF, offers general operating support ranging from $100,000 to $250,000 for organizations or projects that have been active for at least five years and have annual budgets exceeding $2 million. These grants are intended to strengthen long-standing organizations focused on youth mental health and culturally responsive care. Funds may be used for advocacy, staffing, supplies, travel, and other operational needs, but may not be used for regranting or subsidies. Eligible applicants must be 501(c)(3) nonprofit organizations or Federally Recognized Native American Tribes. Non-Federally Recognized Tribes may apply through a fiscal sponsor with 501(c)(3) status. Private foundations and individuals are not eligible. All applicants must be U.S.-based, and DWP particularly encourages applications from organizations led by BIPOC or LGBTQ+ individuals. Preference is given to proposals that include youth engagement in strategy and decision-making. The application process requires submission through the JustFund Common Application portal. Applicants must provide detailed information about their program or project, including a narrative, budget, annual organizational budget, and at least one supplemental attachment showcasing community engagement. Three information sessions are offered, with webinars scheduled for June 3 and June 24, 2025. Applications can be submitted here https://portal.justfund.us/p/rfps/dce98f50-79a0-4dd0-8826-9c9dedb2588c and are due by July 10, 2025, at 5:00 PM PST / 8:00 PM EST, and decisions will be announced by October 14, 2025. All applications will be reviewed by an external, intergenerational Advisory Committee. Selected grantees are expected to provide progress updates and may be invited to join collaborative convenings.
