The Batchelor Foundation Grant
This grant provides financial support to established nonprofit organizations in South Florida that serve the communities of Miami-Dade, Broward, Palm Beach, and Monroe.
The Batchelor Foundation, a private philanthropic organization based in Miami Beach, Florida, supports charitable initiatives in South Florida, with a focused commitment to nonprofits serving the counties of Miami-Dade, Broward, Palm Beach, and Monroe. The Foundation has a long-standing tradition of supporting nonprofit organizations that align with its mission and has shifted its approach to grantmaking as of November 15, 2023. From that date forward, only returning grantees—organizations that have previously received funding from the Foundation—are eligible to submit a Letter of Intent (LOI). New nonprofit applicants may only apply by invitation and unsolicited LOIs are not accepted. The grant program supports both spendable and endowment grants for a one-year period, and all grant funds must be used in alignment with the terms outlined in the award letter. Spendable funds may be used for direct program implementation, while endowment grants are subject to specific institutional fund guidelines and applicable state laws. Occasionally, the Foundation may include a matching component within a grant award, though this is at its sole discretion. The Foundation does not fund international organizations, projects, or initiatives and prioritizes local impact within the four specified Florida counties. Returning grantees must initiate the application process by submitting an LOI through the Foundation’s online portal during one of the quarterly grant cycles. Paper applications are not accepted. Organizations are limited to one LOI submission per 365-day grant period, even if they operate multiple programs. After internal review, approved applicants are invited to complete a more comprehensive Formal Application, also submitted through the online portal. Final decisions are typically rendered within eight weeks of the Formal Application deadline, and notifications are sent via email. The Foundation organizes its grantmaking into four quarterly cycles. For the first quarter, LOIs are accepted from November 15 through January 15, with final applications due January 31 and notifications sent in March. The second quarter runs from February 15 to April 15, with applications due April 30 and notifications in June. The third quarter opens May 15 and closes July 15, with an application deadline of July 31 and notifications in September. The final quarter spans August 15 through October 15, with applications due by October 31 and decisions issued in December. Applicants are encouraged to submit their LOIs early in the cycle to allow adequate time for preparing and submitting the formal application. Only nonprofits currently recognized as 501(c)(3) public charities by the IRS, and not classified as private foundations, are eligible to apply. Additionally, all applicants must be actively registered with the Florida Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services to solicit funds within the state. The Foundation clearly outlines that prior funding is not a guarantee of future support, and each application is subject to a new review cycle. The Batchelor Foundation does not publish its contact information on the public-facing grant guidelines, but all communication regarding the status of LOIs and applications is handled via email. Grantseekers are advised to use the Foundation’s online portal for all application-related processes and should consult the portal for updates, notifications, and formal submission links.
