Economic Development Grant

The City of Klamath Falls is inviting proposals for its Economic Development Funding Program for fiscal year 2026–2027. This initiative is designed to support local nonprofit organizations that contribute to the economic vitality of Klamath Falls, Oregon. The City is particularly interested in initiatives that promote business attraction and retention, workforce development, neighborhood revitalization, and the overall advancement of the city as a regional innovation and tourism hub. Nonprofits with missions aligned to these goals are encouraged to apply for funding awards starting at $2,500. The program seeks to fund organizations that drive growth through business support and neighborhood-based efforts. Eligible uses of funds include small business assistance, job training, open space management, affordable housing development, and economic innovation. Applicants must also submit detailed narratives describing their track record, project staffing plan, evaluation benchmarks, and proposed impact on targeted community needs. Applications will be reviewed by a committee composed of City representatives and external experts. Proposals must demonstrate alignment with one of the City’s program goals, including supporting small businesses citywide or within neighborhoods, enhancing tourism, or fostering innovation and entrepreneurship. Projects will be judged based on clarity of mission alignment, feasibility, anticipated impact, and organizational capacity. Final recommendations will be forwarded to the City Manager and City Council for funding approval as part of the city budget process. The application period for this funding round opens upon issuance of the RFP on January 12, 2026, and closes on March 1, 2026, at 5:00 p.m. Proposals may be submitted via email or hand-delivered to the City’s Administration Department. Awarded organizations will receive funding starting July 1, 2026, contingent on Council approval. Grants are typically for a one-year period, with renewal dependent on performance and policy considerations. This opportunity is not recurring and will be offered at the City’s discretion in future years. However, if a renewal option is exercised, grantees may be asked to submit a revised scope and budget for continued funding. Insurance coverage is required during the funding period, and grantees must not appear on federal or state debarment lists.
