Grant Description

The Queen Village Neighbors Association (QVNA) Community Grant Program offers small grants to support initiatives that enhance the quality of life for residents of Queen Village, a neighborhood in Philadelphia. Administered by QVNA’s all-volunteer Grants Committee, the program funds grassroots projects proposed by local community groups, neighborhood associations, “Friends of” organizations, schools, community gardens, and other local initiatives that serve Queen Village residents. The fall 2025 application window closes at 11:59 PM on Friday, October 10, and funding decisions will be announced in November. Each grant request is evaluated on the degree to which it meets a community need, the clarity and feasibility of the project description, the justification and detail in the budget, and the applicant’s demonstrated capacity to complete the proposed work. All projects must be completed within 12 months of grant award, and funds are distributed via reimbursement or direct payment to third parties. QVNA does not fund crowdsourced projects that have already reached their funding goals by the time awards are announced. Typical grant awards range from $500 to $5,000. Funding may be used for a wide range of community enhancement projects, such as block beautification, playground or garden improvements, clean & green efforts, historic preservation, and educational or enrichment programming. Required elements include a project budget with documented cost estimates, a timeline with milestones, and justification for any additional or reserve funding. Projects involving vendors exceeding $1,000 must include two competitive bids and provide vendor insurance and tax documentation before work begins. Applicants must acknowledge QVNA’s support in all public-facing materials and signage. Grantees are required to submit a six-month progress report and a final report within 12 months, including before-and-after photos. Projects attracting public participation must visibly credit QVNA’s financial support on-site through signage or banners. Applicants must use QVNA’s official application template and submit all required components by email to info@qvna.org by the published deadline. Assistance is available by contacting Louis Bartholomew at louis@qvna.org or calling 215.339.0975.
