Grant Description

The Greater Rochester Community Health Foundation (GRCHF), a supporting organization of the New Hampshire Charitable Foundation, was created using proceeds from the sale of Frisbie Memorial Hospital to HCA Healthcare, Inc. GRCHF’s mission is to improve health and well-being and reduce the burden of illness in Strafford County, New Hampshire, and nearby communities. The foundation funds initiatives that directly address community health priorities through partnerships with local nonprofit organizations. The Targeted Grants Program provides one-year, nonrenewable project support grants of up to $25,000 to nonprofit organizations. This program prioritizes efforts that increase access to mental health, behavioral health, and substance use disorder services, as well as initiatives supporting early education, child care, and food security. While collaboration among organizations is strongly encouraged and prioritized, single-entity applications may also be considered if aligned with the target areas. Eligible applicants must be recognized as tax-exempt under Section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code. Organizations lacking public charity status may still apply if they partner with a fiscal sponsor that does have such status. Public and private schools, hospitals, colleges and universities, religious institutions, and government entities—including municipalities—are not eligible to apply. Exceptions or questions about eligibility should be directed to the program contact, Lisa Vasquez-Castro. The application process involves several steps. Interested applicants must first confirm their eligibility and then create or update a profile in GrantSource, the foundation’s grant management system. Once the profile is active, applicants must complete the online application form by the deadline. The final application deadline is October 1, 2025 at 5:00 PM Eastern Time. All applicants will be notified of funding decisions by December 2025. The geographic focus for the program is Strafford County, New Hampshire. Organizations headquartered outside Strafford County may still apply if they can demonstrate that Strafford County is a primary service area for their work. The foundation encourages applicants to focus on collaborative, community-oriented solutions to the region’s most pressing public health issues.
