The Dallas Association of Young Lawyers (DAYL) Foundation provides annual grants to 501(c)(3) nonprofit organizations that align with its mission to support educational and charitable purposes, particularly those with legal or law-related themes. Established as a granting body in 1999, the Foundation has since awarded hundreds of thousands of dollars to projects that support legal aid, public legal education, and civic integrity within the greater Dallas-Fort Worth (DFW) Metroplex.
The 2025 grant cycle closes on Friday, May 2, 2025, at midnight. Applications must include a brief cover letter, the full grant application form, and several supporting documents (see below). Submissions are required both electronically in a single PDF and physically by mail (postmarked by the deadline).
The Foundation’s funding priorities include law-related education, public legal aid and services, and initiatives that foster public confidence in the legal profession. Examples include support for mock trial competitions, legal resource development, and one-time consultant fees related to new or innovative programs. Awards typically range from $500 to $5,000.
Grants will not cover general operating expenses such as staff salaries, rent, or utility bills. Special preference is given to first-time applicants and new projects from past recipients. A thorough, clearly budgeted proposal with complete documentation is required for consideration.
