Grant Description

The Kellenberger + Tollefson Center for LGBTQ Philanthropy, part of the Arizona Community Foundation, is offering grants for 2025 to support initiatives that advance justice and opportunities for LGBTQ individuals in Arizona. The center focuses on three key areas: LGBTQ youth, LGBTQ seniors, and transgender individuals, aiming to create a more inclusive and supportive environment. The grant cycle opens on March 18, 2025, with applications due by May 2, 2025, at 4:00 PM. Awarded projects must submit a mid-term report by January 30, 2026, and a final report by June 30, 2026. Eligible applicants include 501(c)(3) nonprofit organizations, schools, municipalities, government agencies, tribal entities, and houses of worship (for non-sectarian programs). These organizations must be in good standing with the IRS and align with the Arizona Community Foundation’s grantmaking policies. Applications must be submitted online through the Arizona Community Foundation's grant portal, and hard copies will not be accepted. Applicants must complete an online profile before submitting their proposals. The selection process is competitive, with proposals evaluated by a panel of community leaders. Review criteria include the demonstration of community need, program feasibility, organizational readiness, and potential impact. Applications should establish a compelling need using data and community context, outline a feasible project plan with staffing and partnerships, and present a strong financial plan. Preference will be given to projects addressing urgent issues or underserved communities. Applicants must respond to various questions regarding their proposed project, including details on target beneficiaries, geographic reach, the problem being addressed, implementation plans, and funding strategies. They must also outline the anticipated impact and methods for tracking success. Additionally, organizations need to provide details about their mission, past service to LGBTQ communities, budget, and workforce structure. Grantees must adhere to specific terms and conditions, including using funds strictly for approved purposes, submitting progress reports, and participating in potential meetings with the grantor. The Arizona Community Foundation retains the right to revoke funding if grantees fail to meet requirements. Publicity related to the grant must be reviewed and approved by the foundation, and financial records must be retained for at least four years. For technical assistance with the application process, applicants can contact the Arizona Community Foundation at grants@azfoundation.org or call 602-381-1400. Due to high inquiry volumes close to the deadline, applicants are advised to seek assistance well in advance.
