The Harden Foundation Grant offers funding to 501(c)(3) nonprofit organizations serving Monterey County, California, with a focus on the Salinas Valley. The grant supports programs that provide meaningful and measurable benefits to the local community. Eligible applicants must demonstrate their ability to improve the well-being of residents through various initiatives aligned with the Foundation’s goals.
The Foundation prioritizes projects that improve the well-being of young people, strengthen families, promote individual self-reliance and health, and prevent inappropriate institutionalization. Additionally, it supports efforts to enhance quality of life through cultural activities, encourage humane treatment of animals, and improve coordination among social and community services.
Grants typically range from $10,000 to $100,000 but may be higher for major or capital projects. The Foundation considers proposals in seven focus areas: Children, Youth & Families; Senior Citizens; General; Health; Agricultural Education; Animal Welfare and Environment; and Arts & Culture. Organizations headquartered outside Monterey County may apply only if they clearly serve this area.
To be eligible, applicants must be registered 501(c)(3) organizations providing services or programs within Monterey County. The Harden Foundation does not fund organizations without a demonstrated impact on the local community unless they meet this service requirement.
Applications are due by September 1, 2025. This grant opportunity provides a chance to secure funding for projects that align with the Foundation’s mission to support social welfare and cultural enrichment in Monterey County.
