The Disability and Rehabilitation Research Projects (DRRP) Program: Projects for Translating the Findings and Products of Disability and Rehabilitation Research and Development into Practice is funded by the Administration for Community Living (ACL) through the National Institute on Disability, Independent Living, and Rehabilitation Research (NIDILRR). This grant aims to support knowledge translation efforts to promote the adoption and implementation of findings, interventions, and products from NIDILRR-sponsored research or development projects to improve outcomes for individuals with disabilities.
The primary goal of this funding opportunity is to enhance the impact of disability and rehabilitation research by ensuring that findings and products are effectively used by their intended audiences, leading to improved community living, health and function, and employment outcomes. Grantees must engage in activities that facilitate knowledge translation, including identifying NIDILRR-funded research ready for implementation, developing and applying knowledge translation plans, and evaluating and documenting successful adoption efforts.
NIDILRR expects to award five grants under this opportunity, each with a project period of 60 months, consisting of five 12-month budget periods. The total estimated funding for this grant competition is $1,250,000, with an award ceiling of $250,000 and an award floor of $245,000 per budget period. There is no cost-sharing or matching requirement for this grant, though applicants may voluntarily commit non-federal resources.
Eligible applicants include states, public or private agencies and organizations (including for-profit entities), institutions of higher education, and Indian tribes or tribal organizations. Applications must be submitted through Grants.gov, and all applicants must have an active registration with the System for Award Management (SAM). The deadline for submitting a Letter of Intent is January 10, 2025, while the final application deadline is March 17, 2025. An informational conference call will be held on January 7, 2025 to provide further guidance to applicants.
The application process requires a project narrative, budget justification, data management plan, and letters of commitment from key participating organizations. The evaluation criteria include the importance of the problem, effectiveness of knowledge translation activities, responsiveness to program priorities, quality of dissemination strategies, collaboration with stakeholders, project staff qualifications, and adequacy of resources.
Successful applicants will be notified before the project start date of September 1, 2025. The grant administration will require compliance with federal reporting requirements, including financial and performance reporting, as well as adherence to the Federal Financial Accountability and Transparency Act (FFATA) for any subawards over $30,000.
