Methow Valley Fund Legacy Grant Program
This grant provides financial support to nonprofit organizations and agencies that address community needs in the Methow Valley, with options for both unrestricted operating support and program-specific funding.
The Methow Valley Fund Legacy Grant provides financial support to nonprofit organizations and agencies that address community needs in the Methow Valley. Managed by the Community Foundation of North Central Washington (CFNCW), the program offers two funding opportunities: the MVF9K ($9,000 grants) and the MVF4K ($4,000 grants). Applications for the 2025 grant cycle opened on December 1, 2024, and will close on January 15, 2025. Site visits will take place in February, with grantees expected to utilize funds for local initiatives that enhance the well-being of the Methow Valley community. Eligible applicants for MVF9K grants include 501(c)(3) public charities headquartered in and serving the Methow Valley, which can request unrestricted core operating support. Other entities, such as government agencies (excluding schools), tribal agencies, faith-based organizations, and 501(c)(3) organizations serving the Methow Valley but headquartered elsewhere, may apply for program-specific funding. Fiscally sponsored programs of schools or government agencies, and grant proposals for re-granting purposes, are ineligible. MVF9K grants require a comprehensive application process, including a site visit by the Methow Valley Fund Advisors and CFNCW staff. Organizations that receive an MVF9K grant must wait one grant cycle (one year) before reapplying for either MVF9K or MVF4K grants. Grant recipients must expend the funds and complete a Grant Report before seeking additional funding. MVF4K grants, by contrast, allow for an expedited application process and annual reapplication. These smaller grants do not require full applications or post-grant reporting but do involve a site visit for proposal review. Site visits offer an opportunity for applicants to present their proposals directly to Methow Valley Fund Advisors and CFNCW staff. Applicants can choose between in-person or virtual site visits and should indicate their preference on their applications. No partial grants are awarded for either the MVF9K or MVF4K categories. Decisions are made in consultation with the Methow Valley Fund Advisors, a group of community leaders dedicated to guiding grant allocations. To maintain program integrity, applicants must adhere to the Methow Valley Fund’s policies and guidelines. Grantees are encouraged to engage in capacity-building initiatives and support efforts that align with the Fund’s goal of fostering a healthy, vibrant Methow Valley. Questions about the application process or criteria should be directed to Jennifer Short, CFNCW’s Director of Community Grants, via email at jennifer.s@cfncw.org. The Methow Valley Fund also invites public support through donations. Contributions to the endowment provide sustained funding for future grants, while direct gifts support immediate needs in the Methow Valley. Community members interested in deeper involvement can explore opportunities to become Methow Valley Fund Advisors, joining a team that shapes the future of the region.
