Ready, Set, Go! Grant Program

The Ready, Set, Go! (RSG) Grant Program, managed by the Wisconsin Department of Tourism, provides financial support to help destinations in Wisconsin secure competitive sporting events that are not regularly held in the state. This program offers a total of $110,000 per fiscal year in matching grants to assist Destination Marketing Organizations (DMOs) and Native American tribes with upfront costs associated with hosting major sporting events. RSG grants fund up to 50% of eligible expenses, including bid fees or site/venue/municipal fees, with a maximum of $30,000 per organization annually. Multiple events can be funded under this limit. To qualify, events must attract overnight visitors, drive economic impact, and provide significant media exposure for both the destination and the state. The program does not support regularly scheduled in-state events, events rotating within Wisconsin, or those already funded through statutory earmarks. Additionally, organizations cannot receive both an RSG grant and a Joint Effort Marketing (JEM) grant for the same event within the same fiscal year. Applications must be submitted at least 90 days before the event and are due on February 1, April 1, or September 1 each year. Applications should detail the economic and promotional benefits of the event, supported by a clear plan for its execution.
