Food For The Hungry (FFTH), a nonprofit organization serving Knox County, Ohio since 1982, is accepting applications for its Winter Grant cycle. Rooted in its mission to provide food and financial support to individuals and families in need, FFTH invites proposals from eligible organizations working to address hunger and related issues within the community. The Winter Grant application period is open annually in October and closes promptly at noon on October 31.
Grants are awarded on a competitive basis, subject to the approval of the FFTH Board of Directors or its designated Grants Committee. Applications are evaluated based on eligibility, alignment with FFTH’s funding priorities, and the availability of resources. To be considered, applicants must be tax-exempt 501(c)(3) organizations, educational institutions, churches, or government entities that have operated successfully for at least one year. Additionally, all applying organizations must serve Knox County residents.
FFTH prioritizes projects that foster volunteerism, support diverse populations without discrimination, reduce service duplication through collaboration, and offer innovative or sustainable approaches. Projects that can demonstrate measurable improvements in community well-being are especially encouraged. The Board prefers to fund initiatives for which FFTH is not the sole financial contributor.
Applicants are required to submit complete applications online by the deadline. Incomplete or late submissions will not be considered. Site visits or follow-up questions may be requested during the review process. FFTH does not provide explanations for declined applications, but encourages potential resubmissions to engage in direct consultation with the Executive Director.
If awarded, grantees must submit a follow-up report within 90 days of receiving funds or completing the funded project—whichever comes first. Failure to submit this report may result in reduced or denied funding in future cycles. Additionally, awardees are required to publicly acknowledge FFTH’s support in organizational publications, media, and outreach efforts.
Winter Grants represent one of FFTH’s annual grant cycles. If funds allow, FFTH also issues Summer Grants, specifically targeting nutritional needs of families with children during school breaks. Regardless of season, the organization remains focused on maximizing its impact through strategic, collaborative, and community-driven solutions.
Ensure alignment with FFTH priorities (volunteer engagement, sustainability, collaboration); do not apply for ineligible costs like rent or utilities; incomplete or late submissions are disqualified.
