Holiday Funding Partnership Program

The Holiday Funding Partnership 2025 is a seasonal grant program designed to support nonprofit and community organizations serving vulnerable populations during the winter holiday period. Administered by the Humboldt Area Foundation and Wild Rivers Community Foundation, in partnership with the McLean Foundation, Providence Community Health Investment, and the Patricia D. & William B. Smullin Foundation, the program provides small grants to enhance community-driven holiday assistance initiatives. Eligible applicants include nonprofits, public benefit organizations (such as schools, churches, and tribal governments), and groups working with qualified fiscal sponsors. The program supports charitable projects that take place between November 15 and January 1 and that serve residents of Humboldt, Del Norte, Trinity, and Curry Counties. Grants typically range from $500 to $2,000 and are intended to supplement existing efforts, not replace or retroactively fund prior expenses. Applications are evaluated on a competitive basis, with priority given to programs that serve a high number of individuals, particularly vulnerable populations such as low-income families, youth, and seniors. Programs that offer food assistance, clothing distribution, and other basic needs are especially encouraged to apply. Additional emphasis is placed on organizations reaching underserved or remote communities. Funds may not be used for party decorations, venue rentals, craft parties, or photography. The focus remains strictly on meeting essential needs and reinforcing the impact of holiday programs across rural and native-serving organizations. Applicants must describe their organization, the charitable purpose of their project, and its intended impact. They are also asked to estimate the number of individuals served and list specific resource types distributed, including meals, toys, and clothing by age group. Applicants are required to submit a detailed budget, which outlines total project costs, requested funding amounts, and other secured or anticipated resources. Those working with fiscal sponsors must provide sponsor contact and EIN information. The application also invites applicants to explain any partnerships or collaborations with other groups doing similar work, as well as how local community expertise or volunteerism will support implementation. This funding program is designed to strengthen community well-being during the holidays through direct service and collaborative action.
