Grant Description

The Event Sponsorship Funding program, administered by the City of Klamath Falls, is designed to affirm the City's commitment to supporting community-based events that are open to the public. This funding opportunity falls under the City’s broader Community Initiative, Event Sponsorship, and Supporting Sponsorship Funding programs for Fiscal Year 2026–27. The City makes this funding available as part of a strategic effort to enhance local engagement, promote cultural and civic events, and support nonprofit organizations dedicated to enriching community life in Klamath Falls, Oregon. The core objective of this grant is to offer financial sponsorship to nonprofit organizations planning events that directly serve the Klamath Falls community. Funding is exclusively intended to support events that are open to the general public and take place within the city limits. Notably, in-kind funding requests are not considered under this program. All applications are reviewed with the understanding that this sponsorship is a one-time support measure rather than an ongoing funding source, reinforcing the expectation of financial sustainability for future iterations of the events. Eligible applicants must be registered nonprofit organizations organizing a local, public-facing event. Each organization may only receive one sponsorship per calendar year. The maximum funding available per event is capped at $2,500. Events supported through this grant must clearly benefit the community, and applications must include a detailed event description, objectives, expected outcomes, leveraging of funds, sustainability plans, and an implementation schedule. Additionally, the City requires that successful applicants submit a post-event summary within 30 days of the event’s conclusion to ensure accountability and measure impact. The application process requires submission of a completed Event Sponsorship Funding application to the Office of the City Manager. Applications for the FY 2026–27 cycle open on January 12, 2026, and must be submitted by March 1, 2026. Funding becomes available starting July 1, 2026. Applicants may be asked to deliver a 5–10-minute presentation before the City Council during a designated Work Session, subject to a determination that the application meets the grant criteria. This session date will be announced once applications are reviewed. Evaluation of applications will focus on how well the proposed event aligns with the City’s goals for community engagement and public benefit. Emphasis is placed on the clarity of event objectives, the effectiveness of the proposed plan for measuring impact, and the potential to leverage other funding sources. A clear plan for financial sustainability beyond the City’s one-time funding is also an important criterion. The City encourages applicants to review all eligibility requirements and application materials by visiting its official Grants webpage. Further inquiries should be directed to the Office of the City Manager. This sponsorship program recurs annually, with the same application window anticipated in future years barring significant policy changes.
