Send A Kid To Camp Grant
This grant provides funding to nonprofit organizations in the Triangle region of North Carolina to enhance summer camp programs for K-12 students, particularly those facing financial barriers, in order to promote educational equity and positive youth development.
The Triangle Community Foundation’s “Send A Kid To Camp” grant program was established in 1984 to help ensure that children in the Triangle region of North Carolina have access to enriching summer camp experiences. This program is rooted in the Foundation’s commitment to improving educational equity and promoting positive youth development. In 2025, the Foundation is continuing this longstanding initiative with a new funding cycle that will support summer camp programming for K-12 students over two calendar years, 2026 and 2027. The grant provides a total of $40,000, disbursed in two annual installments of $20,000 each. These funds are intended to help nonprofit organizations enhance or expand summer camp programs, particularly for children who may face financial barriers to participation. The program’s dual focus is on increasing access to camps and mitigating summer learning loss. Eligible organizations may use the grant to fund scholarships, expand capacity, develop educational enrichment components, or improve camp accessibility and outreach efforts. To qualify, applicants must be 501(c)(3) nonprofit organizations that provide summer camp programming and are based in and serving at least one of the four Triangle counties: Chatham, Durham, Orange, or Wake. Projects with a qualified fiscal sponsor are also eligible. The Foundation does not award grants to individual families or programs that serve children outside of these counties. Organizations must comply with the Foundation’s non-discrimination policy and may only submit one application per grant cycle. The application process opens on September 3, 2025, and all applications must be submitted by October 6, 2025, at 11:59 PM. An informational webinar will be held on September 15 to provide guidance on the application process. Funding decisions are expected to be made by January 15, 2026. Applications are reviewed by Foundation staff and volunteer advisory committee members, with evaluation based on program alignment, family and participant engagement, financial need and impact, and organizational health. Grantees are required to submit an interim report in December 2026 and a final report by February 2028. For questions or assistance with the application process, interested applicants are encouraged to contact Katherin Castillo, the Foundation’s Scholarship and Program Officer, at katherin@trianglecf.org or 919-474-8370 ext. 4006. This grant is part of the Foundation’s broader effort to support youth-serving organizations and foster equitable educational opportunities in the Triangle region.
