The Technical Assistance Grants program from the Bonfils-Stanton Foundation provides up to $5,000 in one-time funding to support arts and culture organizations based in Denver, Colorado. These grants are designed to help organizations enhance operational capacity, adapt their programming, or strengthen internal team skills through the use of consultants, technology, planning services, or training/professional development opportunities.
Applications are accepted on a rolling basis throughout the year, with award decisions typically communicated within one month of submission. The grant is intended to help groups sustain or expand their work, especially during periods of organizational transition or innovation. Funds may be used for strategic planning, board development, DEI training, staff training, fundraising strategy, marketing plans, or the implementation of membership and donor management systems.
Eligible applicants must be nonprofit arts and culture organizations with a 501(c)(3) designation or fiscally sponsored groups. They must be based in Denver and deliver the majority of their programming within the city. Organizations with annual operating budgets under $500,000 are prioritized. Exceptions may be considered for small, community-centered arts groups located in adjacent counties (Arapahoe, Adams, Jefferson), though this requires prior discussion with the Foundation.
Applicants should demonstrate a history of community engagement, a clear mission related to arts presentation, and a strategic commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI). A group may only receive one Technical Assistance grant every 24 months. There is no formal reporting requirement, although the Foundation welcomes outcome updates after grant funds are spent.
Fiscal sponsorships are accepted, and the Foundation outlines specific expectations to ensure legal and fiduciary compliance. These include a written agreement between the sponsor and the project team, proper financial oversight, and clear separation of duties. The fiscal sponsor must maintain variance power and not act as a mere pass-through.
To apply, organizations are encouraged to complete a Grant Interest Form first. Once eligibility is confirmed, they can proceed to submit a full application through the Foundationโs online portal. For questions or accessibility accommodations, applicants may contact the Foundation at 303.825.3774 or admin@bonfils-stanton.org.
Ensure DEI focus is clear and project need is well defined. Only one application allowed every 24 months. Optional outcome updates encouraged.
