Visit Nebraska Marketing Grant Program
This program provides financial support to nonprofit and for-profit organizations in Nebraska for innovative tourism marketing projects that attract visitors and promote the state's attractions and events.
The Visit Nebraska Marketing Grant Program, administered by the Nebraska Tourism Commission pursuant to Nebraska Revised Statute 81-3725, is designed to support innovative tourism and marketing initiatives across the state. This program assists communities and organizations in developing strategies to attract nonlocal, in-state visitors as well as out-of-state tourists. It particularly supports efforts that showcase Nebraska’s destinations, events, and attractions while encouraging regional promotion and social inclusion. Eligible applicants include both nonprofit and for-profit organizations engaged in tourism promotion. State and federal government agencies are ineligible. Applicants may apply individually or as part of a collaborative group, although only one grant per applicant will be awarded per cycle. Applications require a federal ID number, and nonprofit organizations that cannot meet the match requirement may request consideration based on financial hardship. The program offers awards up to $25,000 per project. A minimum 25 percent match is required, of which at least half must be cash. The remaining portion may be provided through documented in-kind contributions, including volunteer time valued at $15 per hour. Eligible activities include website and app development, image and logo creation, traditional and digital media advertising, brochure design and printing, and professional training. Ineligible uses include food, lodging, salaries, equipment, construction, and promotional items such as T-shirts and merchandise. A strong emphasis is placed on marketing innovation and expanding outreach beyond local communities. Applicants are encouraged to include directed-marketing initiatives such as sponsored listings on Visit Nebraska platforms, micro-influencer campaigns, and participation in national tourism conferences. Some funding tiers are predefined, such as $10,500 for a full-page ad package in the 2027 Official Nebraska Travel Guide, combined with digital and newsletter promotions. Applications must include a completed cover page, narrative project description, detailed budget worksheet, media coverage maps, and at least two competitive bids for advertising or marketing services. All application materials are due by December 18, 2025, and must be submitted electronically. Notification of awards will occur on February 17, 2026. Reimbursements are issued only after the project is complete and all grant and match expenses are paid in full. A single reimbursement request must be submitted no later than May 31, 2027 or within 90 days of project completion, whichever is earlier. Questions or clarification should be directed to Grant Administrator Heather Hogue at heather.hogue@nebraska.gov or 402-471-3774. The grant program aligns with the Commission’s goal to support creative and effective tourism marketing that expands Nebraska’s visibility and attracts diverse visitor segments.
