Arizona Community Foundation of Flagstaff Grant
This grant provides financial support to nonprofit organizations, schools, and municipalities in the Flagstaff area for projects that address community needs in various fields such as education, healthcare, and environmental conservation.
The Arizona Community Foundation of Flagstaff (ACF of Flagstaff), established in 1987, serves as a regional office of the Arizona Community Foundation and is dedicated to sustaining the nonprofit community of Flagstaff through philanthropic investment. It manages and allocates donor contributions via a permanent endowment, aiming to improve life in Flagstaff both today and for future generations. The Foundation’s mission is to foster community philanthropy and ensure long-term support for vital programs addressing the evolving needs of the Flagstaff community. The 2025 Flagstaff Grant Cycle supports a wide range of nonprofit initiatives that benefit residents within the Flagstaff Metropolitan Planning Organization area. This includes Bellemont, Kachina Village, Mountainaire, Winona, the San Francisco Peaks area, and the Flagstaff Unified School District service region. Eligible applicants include 501(c)(3) organizations, schools, municipalities, tribal entities, and religious organizations (for non-sectarian programs). Organizations must comply with ACF's non-discrimination policy and confirm that their tax-exempt status is current. Only one application per EIN number is permitted, and prior grant recipients must have submitted final reports to be considered again. Applications must be submitted online through the ACF grants portal by 4:00 p.m. on May 22, 2025. The application process includes a detailed eligibility quiz, and applicants are encouraged to attend one of three workshops offered in April. The grant awards will be announced via email by July 31, 2025, with checks distributed in person on August 19. A final report is due by August 29, 2026. The funding period covers approximately one year, starting from the date of check issuance, and retroactive funding is not permitted. The funding scope includes capacity building, direct service projects, capital expenditures, operating support, and both one-time and renewable projects. Proposals must align with one of several Field of Interest funds, including education, environmental conservation, healthcare, music education, social services, youth programming, animal welfare, victim services, arts and culture, and substance abuse prevention. Applicants must clearly select the appropriate fund, as committee reviewers cannot approve projects that do not match donor intent. Evaluation is based on criteria such as alignment with mission, community need, project impact, implementation planning, partnerships, budget justification, and collaboration potential. Applications are scored on a rubric of up to 50 points. The review process includes a diverse panel of community leaders and ACF advisors, who ensure equitable and comprehensive assessments. Applicants are expected to provide a complete project description, outcome measurements, partnership roles, community need rationale, and a detailed budget and narrative. Optional demographic and workforce information is also requested. Support is available from Gwen Groth at ggroth@azfoundation.org or 928.526.1956 for eligibility questions, and the ACF Grants Management Team at grants@azfoundation.org or 602.381.1400 for technical assistance.
