The Arizona Automobile Theft Authority (AATA), a program of the Arizona Department of Insurance and Financial Institutions (DIFI), has released its Notice of Funding Availability for the FY25 Law Enforcement, Prevention, and Training Grant. The FY25 AATA Grant Program seeks to assist in reducing vehicle crimes by supporting jurisdictions with high vehicle theft rates and aiding agencies in addressing unique local challenges. Projects may include but are not limited to personnel, equipment, outreach, and training components directly related to combating vehicle theft. Applicants must ensure that grant funds will not supplant other funding sources already available for similar purposes, a principle formally certified in every application. Grant funds are available through June 30, 2025, though extensions may be requested for procurement or program implementation beyond this date. Eligible applicants include local governments, Native American tribes, and state government agencies operating within Arizona. Importantly, only law enforcement and criminal justice agencies involved in vehicle crime enforcement, prevention, or training initiatives are considered eligible for this program. Applications must be submitted through the eCivis Grant Management System and require approval by the AATA Board of Directors. Once approved, contracts must be executed by both the grant recipient and AATA before disbursement of funds. Regular monthly or quarterly financial and performance reporting is mandated for all awardees within the system. Applicants are encouraged to include in their proposals a detailed description of their jurisdiction's vehicle theft statistics, current trends, and specific challenges faced. A thorough project plan and itemized budget are required. Each awarded project will receive between $500 and $20,000, with an average award size estimated at $5,000.
