Grant Description

The Generous Acts grant program, administered by the Adirondack Foundation, aims to enhance the quality of life for individuals in the Adirondack region by addressing pressing needs and fostering long-term change in key areas: Basic Needs, Educational Pathways, and Economic Vitality. Backed by hundreds of donors, the program has awarded over $3.5 million in grants over the past five years to nonprofits, schools, and community organizations. These single-year, competitive grants prioritize proposals that target underserved populations, address disparities, outline clear outcomes, and demonstrate collaboration and community engagement. Grant sizes range from $2,500 to $20,000, with small grants supporting immediate needs and larger grants funding transformative, long-term efforts. Applications are reviewed based on alignment with the Foundation’s priorities, the demonstrated need for the program, anticipated community impact, and the applicant’s capacity to execute the proposed work. The Foundation shares applications with other funders to increase funding opportunities for applicants. Applications for 2025 open on December 11, 2024, and are due by February 7, 2025. Awards will be announced by April 2, 2025. Eligibility is restricted to nonprofit organizations, schools, and municipalities serving Clinton, Essex, Franklin, and Hamilton counties, as well as parts of St. Lawrence, Warren, Herkimer, and Washington counties within the Adirondack Park boundary. Applications must be submitted online and require detailed responses to questions about the proposed project’s objectives, outcomes, budget, and geographic reach. Additional considerations include diversity, equity, and inclusion practices and collaboration with community partners.
