Organizational Arts Grant Program
This grant provides funding to local nonprofit organizations in Monongalia County, West Virginia, to support diverse arts programming and promote artistic excellence in the community.
The Organizational Arts Grant program, formerly known as the Community Arts Grant program, is managed through a collaborative effort between Your Community Foundation of North Central West Virginia, Inc. (YCF) and the Arts Council of Greater Morgantown. Funding for the program is primarily sourced from the City of Morgantown, the Monongalia County Commission, and the Douglas H. Tanner Memorial Fund for the Arts. Additional funding may also be allocated from other sources during the grant cycle. The purpose of this grant is to broaden community support for the arts, ensure the provision of varied arts programming, and promote artistic excellence throughout Monongalia County, West Virginia. To qualify, organizations must be local nonprofits recognized under Section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code and in good standing. They must also be located within and serve the residents of Monongalia County, West Virginia. Applicants are required to submit a formal organizational budget and complete an online application. They must also be prepared to meet with the Organizational Arts Grant Committee to discuss their grant requests. While schools, universities, libraries, churches, and hospitals are not eligible to apply at this time, organizations with missions that serve or promote the arts are encouraged to apply. Those without an arts-based mission may still apply for project-specific funding. The grant funding comes with specific parameters. Organizations with non-arts-based missions and newly established groups (within three years) are limited to a $5,000 maximum request. Operational funding requests must be tied to program expenses and justified in the budget narrative. Furthermore, the amount requested cannot exceed one-third of the organization’s total revenue, based on prior and current year figures. Generally, funding is not granted for annual campaigns, endowments, sectarian religious or political purposes, existing obligations or debts, or travel-related costs unless travel is clearly aligned with program objectives. Grant applications for the 2025–2026 funding cycle are currently open and must be submitted by June 2, 2025. Applications should be submitted through the designated online portal. Following submission, the Organizational Arts Grant Committee will review all proposals and make funding recommendations in July. Grant awards are approved by the Boards of Directors of both YCF and the Arts Council, with distribution scheduled for August. Recipients must submit a final report by June 15 of the following year. Applicants will be notified of the status of their request via letter. Questions regarding project eligibility should be directed to the Arts Council of Greater Morgantown via email at info@artsgm.org, while technical questions about the application process should be sent to info@ycfwv.org.
