Grant Description

The Steven & Alexandra Cohen Foundation has released a Request for Proposals (RFP) focused on addressing the longstanding gaps in clinical care for women in midlife, specifically around perimenopause and menopause. The Foundation, known for its philanthropic investments in health and wellness, established the NewYork-Presbyterian Alexandra Cohen Hospital for Women and Newborns in 2020. Continuing its mission to support women across all stages of life, the Foundation is now seeking to fund a Clinical Center of Excellence (CCE) that offers innovative, evidence-based, and patient-centered care for women experiencing health transitions during midlife. The Foundation emphasizes that over one million women in the United States enter menopause each year, often without adequate clinical guidance or research-based treatments. This RFP is intended to fund a center that can serve both in-person and telehealth patients, functioning as a model institution for integrating clinical innovation, translational research, and provider training. The overarching goal is to create a hub that not only treats patients but also disseminates knowledge and best practices across medical disciplines and institutions. Applicants must first submit a one-page Letter of Intent to Apply by August 15, 2025, to the email address GrantInquiries@steveandalex.org. This letter must include the organization’s name, EIN, primary and secondary contacts, and a summary of the proposal’s scope. Upon review, the Foundation will provide selected applicants with proposal templates that solicit detailed plans across eleven key domains, including organizational leadership, staffing, clinical strategy, training, patient access, affordability, scalability, and budgeting. Eligibility is limited to U.S.-based nonprofit organizations with 501(c)(3) status. Projects must be entirely based in the United States. Full proposals are due by October 15, 2025. Selected applicants will be notified in early 2026, with contracts expected to be finalized by mid-2026. There is no stated award ceiling or floor, and the Foundation remains open to diverse organizational models and innovative concepts that align with its strategic mission. Proposals will be evaluated on alignment with the RFP, scientific and programmatic strength, operational feasibility, budget justification, prior performance, and strategic alignment with the Foundation’s vision. All submissions must be made through the Foundation’s online grant portal, access to which will be provided upon receipt of a qualified Letter of Intent. Applicants with questions are encouraged to contact the Foundation via email at GrantInquiries@steveandalex.org, using the RFP title in the subject line. The Foundation notes that dates and evaluation criteria are subject to change but emphasizes its commitment to investing in solutions that improve the quality of life for women entering and living through midlife.
