USGS Non-Competitive Assistance FY 2025 - Reston Grants Branch with BIL Funding
This funding opportunity provides financial support for collaborative research and data collection on land classification and natural resources, targeting federal, state, tribal, and academic partners.
The U.S. Geological Survey (USGS) is offering funding under a non-competitive cooperative agreement to support joint research and data collection activities related to land classification, geological structure, and natural resources. This opportunity, funded by the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law (BIL), specifically aims to facilitate collaborative projects with federal, state, tribal, and academic partners that align with USGS program objectives in the study of water, mineral, biological, and other natural resources. Applications are open until September 30, 2025, with a total estimated funding of $1,000,000. Award amounts range from a minimum of $1 to a maximum of $1,000,000. There are no cost-sharing requirements, making this funding fully covered by the grant. Eligibility extends to specific cooperators, which can include federal, state, tribal, and academic entities. Notably, the BIL allows for non-competitive agreements, including those with tribal partners, to support targeted research areas. This cooperative agreement offers flexibility in project arrangements, allowing for contracts, grants, or direct cooperative agreements based on the needs of the project and cooperator partnership. Interested applicants should ensure their project supports USGS efforts in resource classification and geologic and environmental assessments.
