Read Conmigo School Impact Grants
This funding opportunity provides financial support to Title I elementary schools in California, Florida, and Texas to strengthen their Spanish-English dual-language programs and enhance bilingual education for students.
The Read Conmigo School Impact Grant, administered by The Kemper Foundation, aims to advance bilingual education through support of dual-language initiatives in Title I elementary schools. The Kemper Foundation, which backs the program, is a philanthropic organization focused on educational advancement and community support. Through the Read Conmigo initiative, it seeks to bolster Spanish-English bilingual education programs that serve linguistically diverse student populations. The grant is designed to enrich educational access and equity for bilingual learners by providing significant financial support to schools that have established dual-language programs. Each year, the foundation awards up to 22 grants of $10,000 to eligible elementary schools located in select counties across Arizona, California, Florida, Illinois, and Texas. Specifically, schools in Maricopa County (AZ); Los Angeles, Orange, Riverside, San Bernardino, and Ventura counties (CA); Broward and Miami-Dade counties (FL); Cook County (IL); and Dallas, Harris, and Hidalgo counties (TX) may apply. To qualify, schools must be Title I public or charter elementary institutions that serve bilingual students and have operated a Spanish-English dual-language program for at least one year. Schools that received a Read Conmigo School Impact Grant in the previous school year are not eligible, and each school may submit only one application per grant cycle. Grant funds may be used for three primary purposes: (1) school resource and technology improvement, such as bilingual library enhancements, software or device upgrades, and STEM educational tools for dual-language learners; (2) instructional support and professional development, including dual-language curriculum development, program expansion, and educator training; and (3) community and cultural engagement, encompassing bilingual events, family engagement initiatives, and educational field trips. However, the grant may not be used for general operations, capital projects, endowments, staff salaries, personal use items, or non-bilingual programs. Applications must be submitted by the school principal through The Kemper Foundation’s designated online grants portal. Submissions via mail or email are not accepted. Each application must align with the foundation’s usage guidelines, and any post-award budget revisions require prior written approval. Misuse of funds or spending outside the approved budget without consent may result in a requirement to return funds and disqualification from future opportunities. The grant cycle for 2026 is currently open, with the application deadline set for Sunday, March 15, 2026, at 11:59 p.m. local time. The Kemper Foundation is also offering three information sessions to assist applicants on February 5, February 25, and March 11, 2026. Selected grantees must expend all funds by December 31 of the awarded year and submit a Grant Impact Report by June 1 of the following year, including itemized receipts and vendor invoices totaling $10,000. Funds remain with the awarded school regardless of changes in leadership. For additional information, applicants can consult the foundation’s usage guidelines and FAQs or contact the foundation directly at [email protected]. This annual funding opportunity demonstrates The Kemper Foundation’s sustained commitment to supporting dual-language education for bilingual elementary students in under-resourced communities.
