Community Reinvestment and Repair Fund
This funding opportunity supports nonprofit organizations, community groups, and government entities in Calvert County to implement programs that enhance quality of life and promote economic development in historically impacted communities.
The Community Reinvestment and Repair Fund (CRRF) is part of Maryland’s statewide initiative to invest in communities historically impacted by cannabis prohibition, established under the Maryland Cannabis Reform Act. Administered locally by the Calvert County Department of Community Resources, the fund supports programs and services that improve quality of life, promote economic development, and advance equity in Prince Frederick and Lusby—two designated priority communities within Calvert County. In FY2026, eligible applicants include 501(c)(3) nonprofit organizations, community-based groups, and government entities that meet strict compliance and operational criteria. All applicants must have been operational and generating revenue before January 1, 2024, and must be in good standing with Maryland and the IRS. Applicants must also demonstrate experience serving Calvert County and show the organizational capacity to implement their proposed initiatives. The fund awards operational or capital grants between $2,500 and $50,000. Operational funding may not exceed 20% of the organization’s annual budget, and capital funding is capped at 30%. Eligible project categories include behavioral health, afterschool and education programs, childcare and recreational services, housing stability, job training, transportation improvements, and support for individuals impacted by incarceration. Funding may not be used for law enforcement, lobbying, religious purposes, or fundraising costs. Applications are due by 11:59 p.m. ET on Friday, November 7, 2025, and must be submitted via email to Community.Grants@calvertcountymd.gov. Required attachments include financial statements, IRS and state standing documentation, and a completed budget template. Technical support is available through the Department of Community Resources. Awards will be announced in mid-December, and the grant period will run from January 1 to December 31, 2026. Mid-year and final reports are required for awards over $10,000. Evaluation criteria include alignment with community priorities, clear goals and deliverables, sustainability plans, and fiscal accountability.
