Grant Description

The GivingTuesday 2025 funding initiative, organized by the Copper Shores Community Health Foundation, is a regional philanthropic event designed to support nonprofit organizations serving Michigan’s Copper Country. In alignment with the annual global GivingTuesday movement, this local program focuses on driving community donations and increasing awareness for health-related causes across Baraga, Houghton, Keweenaw, and Ontonagon counties. This will be the ninth annual installment of the initiative, which has raised more than $4.7 million since its inception in 2017, including over $1 million in 2024 alone. Applications for participation in the 2025 campaign are now open to eligible nonprofits and must be submitted by noon on Monday, October 6, 2025. Participating organizations will have the opportunity to fundraise on GivingTuesday, which falls on December 2, 2025. Copper Shores enhances the impact of local donations by contributing an additional $200,000 through its Amplification Fund, which is used to boost community giving. All donated and amplified funds must benefit initiatives that serve communities within the four-county region. Eligible applicants must be 501(c)(3) nonprofit organizations domiciled and serving residents in Baraga, Houghton, Keweenaw, or Ontonagon counties. They must possess a current License to Solicit Charitable Contributions from the State of Michigan. If the license is not current, applicants must provide proof of a time extension or recent submission at the time of applying. Notably, religious and educational institutions are not eligible to apply, and each nonprofit must demonstrate that their mission or a proposed project aligns with the foundation’s strategic goals in health-related services and initiatives. Applications must be completed using the form provided by Copper Shores and must include all required documentation at the time of submission. Each nonprofit must designate a representative to complete the application process on behalf of their organization. This person will serve as the main point of contact throughout the campaign and application review process. Selected organizations will participate in the GivingTuesday 2025 event and be eligible to receive boosted donations through the Amplification Fund. The foundation aims to ensure a broad representation of community impact across eligible counties. For questions or assistance during the application process, organizations may contact Copper Shores Community Health Foundation via phone at (906) 523-5920 or email at mbabcock@coppershores.org.
