Community Service Grants
This funding opportunity provides financial support to nonprofit organizations serving Elk Grove residents, enabling them to deliver essential public services and community-based arts programs during the fiscal year 2026-2027.
The Community Service Grants (CSG) program is a locally administered funding opportunity managed by the City of Elk Grove. Designed to support nonprofit organizations that serve Elk Grove residents, this program finances a wide array of public service activities and community-based arts programs. The City has a longstanding commitment to enhancing the wellbeing of its residents, and the CSG program reflects this mission by enabling community organizations to provide vital services such as emergency food distribution, senior meal programs, homeless services, utility assistance, and staffing support for both youth and senior-oriented initiatives. Eligible nonprofit organizations may request up to $100,000 in CSG funds per application cycle. Funding through this grant is contingent upon availability and subject to final approval by the City Council through the City’s annual budget process. It is important to note that this program exclusively supports organizations with services scheduled within the fiscal year beginning July 1, 2026, and ending June 30, 2027. This grant is part of a broader portfolio of funding options made available by the City of Elk Grove, including the Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) and the Event Sponsorship Grant (ESG). While the CSG and CDBG support direct services and public facility programs, the ESG is specifically intended for community events. Applications for the FY 2026–2027 cycle open on January 9, 2026, and must be submitted by February 9, 2026, for both the CSG and CDBG programs. Applications will only be accepted through the City’s online grants management system, WebGrants. Prospective applicants who are new to WebGrants must register for an account before submitting a proposal. No paper submissions or alternate formats are accepted. The application process requires applicants to closely review the funding opportunity details and to prepare all required attachments in advance. Some documentation may require extended time to compile. To support applicants, the City of Elk Grove will host a technical assistance webinar on January 20, 2026, from 12:30 to 2:30 PM. The webinar will cover eligibility criteria, submission requirements, and the review process. It is strongly encouraged that interested applicants attend this session. The webinar will also be archived and made available on the City’s website for later viewing. Eligible applicants include nonprofit organizations that are recognized under sections 501(c)(3) or 501(c)(6) of the Internal Revenue Code. Faith-based organizations are eligible provided they serve the general public and comply with nondiscrimination requirements. Applicants must also be in good standing with the California Secretary of State and the California Attorney General’s Registry of Charitable Trusts, if registration is required. Entities must not be for-profit or individual applicants. Those applying for CDBG funding must additionally be registered and active in SAM.gov. Applicants with additional questions after the technical assistance webinar may contact City staff via email for clarification about program requirements, application procedures, and funding eligibility. Interested parties can also subscribe to the City’s email contact list to receive future updates and alerts regarding nonprofit funding opportunities. Applications will be reviewed following the close of the submission window, with awards dependent upon City Council approval and funding availability. The performance period for successful applicants will align with the July 2026 to June 2027 fiscal year.
