Notice of Intent to Publish a Funding Opportunity Announcement for Paul Calabresi Career Development Award for Clinical Oncology (K12 Clinical Trial Optional)
This funding opportunity supports institutions in training clinical scientists focused on cancer research, enabling them to lead or participate in clinical trials as part of their career development.
The National Cancer Institute (NCI) intends to publish a Notice of Funding Opportunity (NOFO), the NCI Paul Calabresi Career Development Award for Clinical Oncology (K12). The NOFO will invite applications for institutional research career development programs to support the training of clinical scientists in cancer research. Special emphasis is placed on training of clinical scientists whose career goals are in clinical cancer research. The NOFO will allow the appointment of Scholars proposing to serve as the lead investigator of an independent clinical trial; or proposing a separate ancillary study to an existing trial; or proposing to gain research experience in a clinical trial led by another investigator as part of their research and career development. This Notice is being provided to allow potential applicants sufficient time to develop meaningful collaborations and responsive applications. The NOFO is expected to be published in November 2024 with a first expected application due date in February 2025. This NOFO will utilize the K12 activity code for Clinical Scientist Institutional Career Development Program Awards. Details of the planned NOFO are provided below.
