The Growing Greenwood Fund is administered by the Emporia Community Foundation to support education, community development, health, economic initiatives, recreational services, and nonprofit projects that enhance life in Greenwood County, Kansas. The fund prioritizes innovative and creative efforts responsive to changing needs in health, education, social services, recreation, and culture.
Eligible applicants include nonprofit organizations, particularly those not supported by government entities with taxing authority. Grants will not support operational expenses such as rent, utilities, or salaries. Instead, funds must be used for specific projects that deliver measurable community benefits. Applicants should demonstrate how the proposed project aligns with their mission and fulfills community needs.
Each grant may not exceed $1,000, and the fund does not require matching contributions. Applicants must submit a completed application form, a detailed budget, a list of officers and board members, a copy of the organizationโs IRS determination letter (if applicable), and the most recent financial statement.
Applications will be accepted between June 1 and July 1, 2025, closing at 5:00 PM. Award notifications will follow approximately one month after the deadline. Projects will be evaluated based on community impact, strategy for achieving results, partnerships, and evaluation methods.
Applicants must address seven specific narrative questions covering community need, mission alignment, outcomes, strategy, partnerships, evaluation plans, and sustainability. Brevity is encouraged. Submit completed applications to the Growing Greenwood Fund via mail or email at linda.kehres-schmidt@emporiacf.org.
