The Youth Engagement Grants program, launched by the Grays Harbor Community Foundation, celebrates the foundation’s 30th anniversary by providing financial support for programs that directly benefit youth in Grays Harbor County. Over the past 30 years, the foundation has supported a variety of youth initiatives, including sports programs, after-school activities, and early learning projects. This grant is aimed at enhancing youth programs and creating new opportunities for children aged 18 and under in the local community.
Eligible applicants include non-profit organizations, school districts, and other entities that serve youth in Grays Harbor County. Preference will be given to organizations seeking to either create new programs or enhance existing ones. Each organization can request up to $5,000 for one or more projects, with a focus on programs that will provide long-term benefits or reach a large number of youth, especially those offering opportunities that would otherwise be inaccessible or unaffordable.
Grant funds must be expended within six months of receiving the award, and recipients are required to submit a Final Report explaining how the funds were used. Examples of eligible projects include youth sports programs, enhancements to after-school programming, special field trips, and cultural opportunities. However, the grants typically do not cover fundraising events, facility improvements, venue rentals, general operational expenses, or classroom supplies that are normally covered by the school district.
The grant application period runs from September 16 to November 8. Organizations interested in applying should ensure their projects meet the foundation’s requirements and timeline to enhance their chances of securing funding for youth engagement initiatives.
