Arts Vibrancy Endowment Artist Awards Grant Program
This grant provides financial support to artists residing in Juneau, Alaska, to help them create and share original works with the community.
The Juneau Community Foundation, a nonprofit organization based in Juneau, Alaska, administers the Arts Vibrancy Endowment Artist Awards Grant Program. This grant is part of the Foundation's commitment to enriching community life through support for the arts. Funded by community members who believe in the vital role of artistic expression, the Arts Vibrancy Endowment focuses on nurturing the growth and development of artists living in Juneau. The program aims to empower creators by supporting their pursuit of original work and encouraging them to share their artistic vision with the broader community. The Artist Awards provide financial support directly to individuals, groups, or collaborative artists. The grant awards range from $2,500 to $5,000, with the objective of fostering the creative process behind new and original works. Acceptable uses of the funds include travel and tuition for workshops or advanced study, professional documentation of an artistโs portfolio, or production and installation costs for public exhibitions or performances. Cost-of-living expenses may also be included, provided applicants clearly explain how they contribute to the successful completion of the project. To be eligible, applicants must be full-time residents of the City and Borough of Juneau and have resided there for at least the past two years. Applicants must be at least 18 years old and actively producing work at the time of application. Artists who have previously received the Individual Artist Award may reapply only if their prior award was granted over two years ago and they have fulfilled all reporting obligations. Individuals currently enrolled in arts-related degree programs, as well as current or former affiliates of the Juneau Community Foundation or their immediate families, are not eligible. Applicants may apply for awards to support specific, short-term projects that can be completed within one year of the award date. Applications can be submitted via Word or PDF documents emailed to grants@juneaucf.org, or through a newly offered Google Form option. A downloadable budget template is also available. The application deadline is Friday, August 15, 2025, by 5:00 p.m. All materials must be submitted by this time to be considered. Grant decisions will be made by mid-September 2025. Before receiving funds, selected applicants must submit a W9 and sign a grant agreement outlining the award period and reporting requirements. Grantees are expected to submit a final report upon project completion, including a narrative summary and a budget-to-actual expenditure report. Failure to provide the final report may affect eligibility for future funding opportunities. Applicants with questions or those seeking guidance may schedule time during designated office hours to consult with Foundation staff.
