The Daniel Gerber Sr. Medallion Scholarship is a scholarship opportunity provided by The Gerber Foundation for high school seniors graduating from the Newaygo County Career Tech Center (NCCTC) and planning to pursue higher education through an accredited program. The scholarship is designed for students who have completed one of the career programs at NCCTC and are applying for post-secondary education. The application must be completed during the student’s senior year of high school.
The scholarship offers a total value of $1,000. It can be used for a variety of educational expenses including tuition, books, course fees, tools and equipment, certificate and licensing exam fees, and apprenticeship program fees. The scholarship is available for students pursuing careers in various fields such as Business, Building and Design, Industrial, Cosmetology, Accounting, Construction Trades, AgriScience, Culinary Arts, Business Applied Tech, Engineering, Automotive Tech, Future Educators, Graphic Communications, HVAC, Heavy Equipment Tech, Health Sciences, Information Tech, Welding, and Manufacturing Engineering.
To apply, students must submit their application by February 28 of each year at 4:00 pm ET. The submission process is conducted online, and applicants are required to register and log in to the scholarship portal at https://gerberfoundation.smartsimple.com. The online account enables students to track their progress throughout the scholarship process. Students should use a non-school email address they can regularly check during registration.
The application process requires students to submit their educational information, a personal statement that answers four short essay questions, a letter of recommendation from their NCCTC program instructor, and a grade report from their NCCTC counselor. The selection of scholarship recipients is based on the student’s academic achievements at NCCTC, the content of the personal statement, and the recommendation letter.
