The Outer Banks Community Foundation (OBCF) has announced its 2025 Grant Opportunities, which now include expanded and enhanced funding programs aimed at supporting charitable initiatives across the Outer Banks region. The Foundation has introduced a new tier of support known as the Focus Grants, which offer up to $50,000 for strategic, high-impact projects addressing core community challenges. These grants are designed for nonprofits undertaking innovative, large-scale, and sustainable programs.
Focus Grants in 2025 are dedicated to three specific issue areas: expanding healthcare access, developing affordable housing solutions, and supporting child care initiatives. The Community Foundation encourages multi-year proposals under this funding stream to ensure grantees have the time and resources to implement long-term, transformative solutions.
In addition to the new Focus Grants, the Outer Banks Community Foundation continues to offer Impact Grants. These are available quarterly and support a broad spectrum of charitable causes, including but not limited to animal welfare, arts and culture, youth and children’s programs, disaster relief and mitigation, education, environmental protection, health services, historic preservation, and broader human services. There are no topical restrictions for these grants, and funding requests exceeding $10,000 are encouraged under this program.
The application process is competitive. Impact Grants are reviewed on a quarterly basis, with a firm deadline for the fall cycle falling on the last Friday of October. For the 2025 cycle, this deadline is October 31. All grant funding is directed exclusively toward programs benefiting the Outer Banks community, and only qualified nonprofit organizations are eligible to apply.
Through these enhanced grant programs, OBCF aims to deepen its support for nonprofits and drive measurable improvements in local quality of life.
